Chocolate Drizzled Banana Waffles is like classic banana bread, with bananas, cinnamon and vanilla. And then drizzled with decadent chocolate sauce.
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup oil (melted coconut oil or vegetable)
3/4 cup milk
2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 3/4 cup)
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
chocolate sauce for drizzling (homemade or store bought)
Heat a waffle iron on high heat and preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit for warming.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
In a small bowl, combine the oil and milk. (If using coconut oil, melt in the microwave for 30 seconds or until it is lukewarm). Whisk in the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract.
Into the dry ingredients, whisk in the oil and milk mixture and stir until just combined. Be careful not to over mix and make the waffles tough.
Pour waffle batter onto the heated waffle iron. Cover all of the center and most of the edges if using a square Belgium waffle iron. When the waffles are a deep golden brown, transfer in a single layer to a baking sheet. Place in the oven to keep warm while you’re making additional waffles.
When ready to serve, top waffles with sliced bananas and drizzle warmed chocolate sauce over the top. Oh, yum!
