This Halloween 7 Layer Dip is a fun, delicious, and even spooky treat for kids and adults alike. A classic and easy party appetizer that's ready in 10 minutes, and can even be made ahead. Easy to make? Absolutely, including the edible spiders and their web!
Bottom Layer: Mix refried beans with ¼ to ⅓ cup salsa for flavor and easy spreading. I sometimes use two 14.5-ounce cans of refried beans for the bottom layer if I'm serving a lot of people.
2nd Layer: Reserve ½ cup of sour cream and place in a zip-top baggie if making a spider web. Spread the remaining sour cream over the beans. If not making a web, use the whole amount in this layer.
3rd Layer: Spread diced green chilies (or jalapenos) over the refried beans.
4th Layer: Guacamole (homemade or ready made), spread almost to edges of the serving dish.
5th Layer: Sprinkle cheddar cheese in a ring around the edges of the dish.
6th Layer: Make the web. Snip off the corner of the baggie and pipe straight lines from the center outward. Then connect the lines with short web lines.
7th Layer: Layer pico de gallo or salsa around the rim of the dish and garnish the top with chopped green onions.
Spiders: To make the spiders, slice a couple of large whole black olives in half lengthwise for the body. Slice another large olive in half (not lengthwise) to make the head. Slice the remaining olive lengthwise for the spider legs.
