Instructions
For the crust:
Preheat the oven to 350°. Crush the graham crackers in a food processor or resealable plastic bag. Stir in the melted butter and press into a pie plate. Bake until set, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.
For the filling:
Allow the ice cream to soften a bit. Scoop into a bowl and with a rubber spatula fold in pieces of chopped candy and nuts. Once mixed, pour the ice cream mixture into the crust. Cover with foil and freeze until very hard, about 2 hours.
To serve:
Slice the pie and garnish with chopped nuts, whipping cream, and fudge sauce.
Notes
Candy: Here are a few chocolate candy Ideas we enjoy: Reese's peanut butter cups, Butterfinger, chocolate bars, Snickers, Kit Kat, and even Oreo cookies. You will need about 1 king-size bar.
How about fruit? I love to make this ice cream pie with fresh berries and fruit as well. Simply replace the candy with chopped berries or fruit, garnish with whipping cream, and add nuts if you like.
Soften the ice cream: Let it stand at room temperature just until it is easy to stir and spread. Avoid letting it melt completely.
Cool the crust: Be sure the graham cracker crust is completely cool before adding the ice cream filling.
Choose your favorite flavor: Vanilla is delicious with chocolate and nuts, but chocolate, strawberry, Neapolitan, mint chocolate chip, or coffee ice cream also work well.
Change the add-ins: Substitute chopped cookies, chocolate chips, candy pieces, sprinkles, fruit, or another favorite ice cream topping. Chop larger add-ins into small pieces so the frozen pie is easier to slice.
Prepared crust option: A purchased graham cracker crust can be used for a quick shortcut, although the homemade baked crust will have the best flavor and structure.
For clean slices: Let the pie stand at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes. Dip a sharp knife into hot water, wipe it dry, and repeat between slices.
Storage: Cover tightly and freeze for up to one week. Add whipped cream, fresh fruit, and warm sauces just before serving.
