Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a casserole dish or sheet pan with foil. Or grease a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until translucent and softened. Add the garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper and cook for another minute or until fragrant. Remove from heat and add Worcestershire sauce, water, and tomato paste. Allow it to cool slightly; about 5 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the onion mixture, bread crumbs, and egg. Gently fold in the ground turkey. The mixture will be very wet.
Shape the loaf into an oval or rectangular shape and transfer to the prepared casserole, baking sheet, or loaf pan. Spread ketchup evenly over the top. Fill a pie plate or baking pan with very hot tap water and set it on the bottom shelf of your oven. Place the meatloaf on the middle shelf and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until the internal temperature is at 170°F.
Notes
Why Add Water to the Oven?
The water in the oven will help steam the meatloaf, leaving a wonderfully moist and tender meatloaf.
