A decadently new favorite easy dessert, this Fudgy Skillet Brownie with Maple Glaze is having a huge moment in our kitchen. Densely chocolaty, fudgy and chewy, this brownie is a treat of all treats.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly coat a 10-inch oven-safe skillet or cast-iron skillet. Set aside.
Melt the butter, chocolate chips, and unsweetened cocoa powder in a medium bowl set over simmering water, melt in a saucepan, or in a microwave oven. Let cool slightly before stirring in the eggs and vanilla. Fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt; mix just until incorporated. Transfer the batter into the prepared skillet and spread or jiggle until it becomes an even layer.
Bake the skillet brownie until the surface appears set, a toothpick inserted into the center should come out mostly clean; 35 40 minutes. Let cool completely.
Make the Maple Glaze
In a small bowl whisk together the confectioners' sugar, milk, maple syrup and maple extract. Add milk or confectioners' sugar as needed for drizzling consistency. Once the brownies are cool, drizzle the glaze over the brownie, cut into wedges and serve -- or skip the wedges, add some spoons, vanilla ice cream and serve family style!
