This easy homemade guacamole is fresh, creamy, chunky, and ready in about 5 minutes with ripe avocados, lime juice, cumin, cilantro, jalapeño, and garlic.

Cut the avocados in half lengthwise. Remove the pit, remove the avocado from the skin, and place into a bowl.
Add the lime juice, salt, cumin, and cayenne (if using) and mash with a potato masher, fork, or pastry cutter until half chunky, half smooth, and creamy. Fold in the onions, garlic, and fresh cilantro.
Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, or cut veggies.
Notes
Avocados: Ripe avocados are easiest to mash, but if they’re still a bit firm, use a pastry cutter. It makes the job much easier and helps create a creamy, slightly chunky texture.
Storing Guacamole: If you need to refrigerate guacamole, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to limit air exposure. I’ve also found that placing half an onion on top before covering helps preserve its color surprisingly well.
