Garnish with cinnamon, pie spice, nutmeg and whipped cream if desired
Instructions
Heat the milk, pumpkin, and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat until hot, but do not boil.
Remove from the heat and whisk in the pie spice, vanilla, and espresso. If you have a milk frother, give the warm mixture a quick whirl for an extra-frothy finish.
Divide between two large mugs and top with whipped cream and additional pie spice if desired.
Notes
Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice: Combine 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 3 teaspoons ground ginger, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, and ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg. Store in an airtight spice container and use as needed.
Coffee: Use 2 shots of espresso, ¼ cup strong brewed coffee, or ½ cup cold brew, depending on the strength and flavor you prefer.
Sweetener: Maple syrup is my favorite, but brown sugar or granulated sugar can also be used. Adjust to taste.
