July has been a busy month as we have settled into summer schedules. From vacations to day trips, gatherings, and more, it’s easy to get sidetracked from healthy eating.
So this week, we’re concentrating on healthy, quick cooking protein-rich dinners with at least 15 grams per servings, and that cook in 20 minutes.
Why Is Protein Important?
How do you know if you’re getting enough protein in your daily diet? The dinner ideas below will help provide delicious dinners that leave you satisfied and are rich in protein.
But first, let’s take a look at why protein is important in a daily diet.
Protein is one of three macronutrients your body needs. “Macronutrients are the nutritive components of food that the body needs for energy and to maintain the body’s structure and systems,” says MD Anderson Wellness Dietitian Lindsey Wohlford.
As one of the three, protein serves as a building block that helps cells in the body grow and repair. It’s important for everyone, but especially for people who exercise regularly. Protein also aids in recovery after surgeries or injuries.
Eating protein helps us feel satisfied longer throughout the day.
How Much Daily Protein?
If you’re wondering how much protein you need to eat in a day, the answer is a bit different for everyone. The number of grams per day varies based on age, sex, calories consumed and activity level. But the recommended daily allowance is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. (For a 150-pound person, that would be about 54 grams of protein per day).

From a vegetable rich frittata to a couple of seafood meals, lots of tomatoes, and Friday worthy tacos.
The treat is a summer classic that is neither high in protein or ready in 20 minutes. Sorry!
Here’s this week’s menu.
Have a wonderful week!
