The Sunday Journal: A Season of Refining
As you may know, I spent years in media production, producing, and newswriting. You can read more on my biography page. If you’ve visited a television studio or newsroom, you know there is a quietness in a newsroom of studio before the first broadcast-a moment of stillness where everything is prepared, but the story hasn’t yet begun.
As I looked at my 2026 calendar this week, I felt a similar pull toward stillness. After years of the ‘more is more’ content treadmill, I've decided that this is my season of refining. Just as we prune the roses in winter to ensure a spectacular bloom in June, I am pruning my schedule to make more room for the things that truly matter: the stories, the tea, and the community we've built here.
This Sunday, I'm inviting you to join me in this ‘Art of the Reset.’ It's not about doing more; it's about doing what we love with a bit more intention.

The Lifestyle Edit: January Favorites
Two things I'm currently using to keep my everyday life beautiful and organized.
1. The “Reset” Journal
I've gone back to paper and pen this year for my daily planning. There is something about the tactile feel of a high-quality notebook that helps me process my thoughts better than a screen. I'm currently using a Day Designer weekly planner-it's simple, elegant, and stays open flat on my desk.

2. The Ultimate Winter Mug
With winter mornings frigid and my kitchen still warming for the day, I’m rarely without my ceramic tea mug with an infuser and lid. It's the perfect weight, keeps my tea warm from morning writing to recipe testing. Although it comes in a variety of colors, I’m loving the pink color as it feels like a warm winter hug on a gray January day in Seattle.
