As we begin approaching the later half of August, my eye begins to travel to sunflowers and grasses -- and of course, turning leaves. Where I live, the cattails are profuse, and it just feels like late summer.

The following tutorial video, produced for Pottery Barn with floral designer Nico de Swert, captures the essence of late summer. Although the video was produced a few years ago, it's a timeless style that I want to copy year after year.

The elements he uses are fresh flowers, and that would be stunning, but it would be just as easy to incorporate silk flowers and grasses.

An easy, yet creative DIY flower arrangement -- perfect for the season!

While the vase used in the video is one I can longer find at Pottery Barn, I did find several similar containers that would be beautiful.
