Most of the men in my life love to go fishing, and they love lakes… they love the outdoors. In thinking about a Father’s Day menu, a Lakeside Fisherman Supper couldn’t fall too far from the mark. With this menu, we’ve combined outdoorsy foods with flavorful herbs, seasonal produce, and a little classic comfort food. Perfect for my guys.
We live an easy walk to a small lake with a fantastic picnic area, including the most charming stone-hewn and timber pavilion featuring a giant size fireplace. The lake is stocked with fish, the surrounding area is green and lush, the lake water is still and peppered with lily pads. If I was a painter, this would be my lake to paint. We love it for a quiet walk in the mornings, many swim its breadth… and most fish it.

Grilled Tomatoes with Herbs
Not a recipe exactly. But so delicious when they are coming into season.
Slice firm tomatoes about 1/4-inch thick. Brush lightly with olive oil. Grill or broil about 1-2 minutes per site. Arrange grilled tomato slices on a serving platter. Sprinkle liberally with your favorite herb, like parsley, thyme, rosemary, oregano and season with salt and freshly ground pepper.
