What I Love About This Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie is a delicious way to begin my mornings. And I love that I don't have to wait for blueberry season. They're just as good when using frozen blueberries (which I always have stocked in my freezer). Additionally, they're easy to make with no preparation required. For an extra boost, consider adding flax seeds for protein and fiber!

Smoothie Ingredients

Here are those 3 ingredients you'll need:

  1. Banana: For natural sweetness and a creamy texture
  2. Blueberries: Frozen or fresh (although frozen eliminates any need for ice cubes)
  3. Yogurt: I prefer Greek yogurt for added protein

You will also need liquid to blend the smoothie. Most often, I use water for hydration, but if you prefer, dairy or nondairy milk works great too.

How to Make a Smoothie

The easiest way to make smoothies is with a blender, and it doesn't have to be high-powered or fancy. Mine isn't, and it's in use every day.

Can you make a smoothie without a blender?

Absolutely! Here are a few ways:

  • Mash the fruit with a fork or potato masher and fold in the yogurt.
  • Use a food processor much like a blender.
  • A whisk can also work nicely to blend the ingredients together.
  • Shaker bottles can also work beautifully.
