Yesterday we posted 21 Pantry Staple Recipes. Today, we’re giving you some ideas on how to stock your pantry.

From shelf-stable, non-perishable canned food and grains, to refrigerator and freezer items we love to have on hand.

When life gets weird, like in emergencies, or unplanned events, it’s important to have stock on hand for quick and easy meals.

Or when you didn’t plan dinners, your kids bring home their friends, and you need to cook something fast — having a well-stocked pantry is a gift to yourself!

How to Stock the Pantry

Pantry Staples in Glass Jars

Pantry Staples

  • Pasta in varying shapes and sizes
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Dried Beans and Peas
  • Canned: Beans, Vegetables, Fruit
  • Canned: Tomato Products – Sauce, Paste, etc.
  • Canned: Chicken, Beef, and Vegetable Stock/Broth
  • Canned: Chicken, Tuna, Salmon
  • Grains: Rice, Quinoa, Lentils (or your favorites!)
  • Oats
  • Coconut Milk
  • Enchilada Sauce (Green and Red)
  • Salsa
  • Condiments, Sauces, and Dressings you use
  • Protein Bars/ Energy Bars
  • Olive oil, Vegetable oil and Vinegars
  • Nut Butters
  • Olives, Pickles
  • Seasonings / Spices
  • Chocolate
  • Fruit Preserves
  • Popcorn Kernels
  • Boxed Mac and Cheese
  • Boxed Rice, Couscous, Pasta
  • Bread
  • Tortillas
  • Pizza Sauce

Baking Supplies

  • Flour (all-purpose, and others used frequently)
  • Sugar (Brown, Granulated, Confectioners’)
  • Baking Soda
  • Baking Powder
  • Cornmeal
  • Evaporated Milk
  • Extracts (Vanilla, Almond, etc.)
  • Honey
  • Maple Syrup
  • Molasses
  • Nuts
  • Yeast
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Raisins and Dried Fruit

Dairy

  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Cheese: cheddar, parmesan
  • Yogurts
  • Milks 

Meat

Freezer

  • Pizza Dough

  • Bananas (peeled and quartered)
