Chocolate Chip Pecan Squares: A Favorite Decadent Treat

Ingredients
Crust
- 1 ¾ cups flour
- ¾ cup butter, softened
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
Filling
- 1 ½ cups dark corn syrup
- ⅔ cup packed brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups coarsely chopped pecans, divided
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 13 x 9-in baking pan with foil, sprayed lightly with cooking spray. Leave a bit of foil to hang over the sides.
Combine butter, ¾ cup softened butter, and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat at medium speed until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Press crust evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake 18-20 minutes or until the edges are very light golden brown.
For filling:
Combine dark corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, flour, vanilla, and salt in a bowl. Mix well. Stir in 1 ½ cups pecans and 1 cup chocolate chips. Spread evenly over hot, baked crust. Sprinkle remaining pecans and chocolate chips over the top. Bake 30-35 minutes or until filling is set and knife inserted near the edge comes out clean. Cool completely; refrigerate. Cut into bars.
