What I Love About This Fall Snack Mix
A five-minute snack mix that everyone loves? Yes, please. This fall trail-mix-style treat hits that perfect sweet-and-salty balance with all the cozy autumn vibes I look forward to every year.
This quick-fix Chex Mix is made with a combination of Rice Chex, Corn Chex, pretzels, mini marshmallows, fall-colored M&M's, pecans, and a drizzle of melted white chocolate. The chocolate lightly coats the ingredients, forming irresistible little clusters - easy to grab, share, and snack on.
It also makes a generous batch, which is great for gatherings and gifting. If it's just our family, I sometimes halve the recipe… though I almost always wish I hadn't. It stores beautifully and disappears quickly!
Serve it for Halloween, Thanksgiving, hostess gifts, football watching, movie nights, game nights, classroom treats, or simply as a late-night snack when you want something fun.
Much like our 5 minute Christmas chex mix recipe, it’s a simple way to make a treat, perfect for autumn.

Ingredients
This easy fall snack mix comes together with simple pantry staples-and it's easy to customize depending on what you have on hand.
- Rice Chex & Corn Chex: These cereals form the light and crispy base of the mix.
- Pretzels: Mini twists or sticks add a salty crunch that balances the sweetness.
- Mini Marshmallows: Adds soft, chewy texture throughout the mix.
- Fall-Colored M&M's (or Pumpkin Candy Mix): Brings color and a chocolatey pop. Candy corn or seasonal sprinkles also work well.
- Pecan Halves: Adds warm, nutty crunch. Feel free to substitute with almonds, cashews, or leave them out for a nut-free version.
- White Chocolate: Melted and drizzled to gently bind everything together into snackable clusters.
Tip: This recipe is very flexible-swap ingredients based on what you love or what you already have in the pantry.
How to Make this Easy Fall Chex Mix Recipe
In a large bowl, combine the cereal, pretzels, marshmallows, M&M’s, and pecans. Mix them up a bit to evenly distribute.

- Step 1: Combine the snack mix ingredients in a large bowl, and melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions in the microwave or in a double boiler.

- Step 2: Drizzle melted white chocolate over the snack mix and combine with a spoon or carefully with your hands. Be sure the cereal mixture is evenly coated.

- Step 3: Spread the mixture onto a large parchment-lined cookie sheet. Let dry and harden. This could take minutes or up to an hour.

- Step 4: Break the fall Chex mix into bite-sized pieces and store it in an airtight container or baggies at room temperature for up to 1 week. Or store in lidded jars for gifting.
Variations
This fall snack mix is wonderfully flexible - feel free to make it your own based on the occasion.
- Spiced Fall Mix: Toss the cereal and pretzels with a sprinkle of cinnamon before mixing.
- Harvest Party Mix: Add candy corn, pumpkin candy mix, or seasonal sprinkles.
- Game Day Mix: Swap M&M's for team colors and add mini pretzel footballs if you have them.
- Nut-Free Version: Simply omit the pecans and increase the cereal or pretzels.
- Extra Crunchy: Increase the pretzels and cereal and reduce the marshmallows.
- Chocolate Lovers Mix: Add mini chocolate chips or a second drizzle of milk chocolate.
Recipe FAQs
Yes! This snack mix stores very well. Once the white chocolate has fully set, transfer it to an airtight container. It will keep at room temperature for up to 1 week. If gifting, bundle just before serving for the freshest texture.
Absolutely. Candy corn, pumpkin candy mix, Reese's Pieces, or even seasonal sprinkles work well. Just keep the balance of sweet and salty in mind.
Drizzle the melted white chocolate lightly and toss gently with a spatula or spoon instead of pouring it all in at once. If you want more defined clusters, add a little more chocolate; if you want a looser mix, drizzle more lightly.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature. For gifting, small treat bags, paper snack cups, or half-pint mason jars are perfect. Add a ribbon or tag for a festive touch.
