If you love knitting and afternoon tea, these easy British-style Union Jack Tea Cozy knitting patterns are for you.

I love to knit tea cozies and sew tea cozies, and I am acquiring a small collection that seems to grow every year.

Here are some super cute tea-cozy knitting patterns to try for yourself… or as a gift for a tea-loving friend.

And if you want to learn more about afternoon tea, and how to brew that perfect pot, or host your own tea, be sure to visit our Afternoon Tea posts.

This pattern uses the intarsia knitting technique, a stranded colorwork pattern that is easier than it looks. It can be more difficult but for those up to the challenge, it’s a beautiful piece for your collection.

If you’ve not knit intarsia before, here is a quick video tutorial to show you how.

UPDATE: The digital version of this pattern was discontinued on Ravelry. After a reader asked me where she could find a copy — I got lucky by finding an old thumb drive with the pattern downloaded on it.

Thank goodness! I’m knitting it again as I write.

The tea cozy pattern is from Audrey’s Tea Shop.
