What I Love About an Easter Snack Mix
- It’s Festive: Look at all those pastel colors!
- Delicious: Sweet and salty combinations are almost addictive, especially when you add chocolate to the mix!
- The Quickest Treat Ever: Five minutes, few ingredients, and festive!
I love that this snack mix takes minutes to prepare (maybe less than 5 minutes to toss together) and a few more to harden on the counter. It also evokes spring and the holidays with pastel colors and a few shapes to make the mix interesting!
I’ve linked all the ingredients I used to make this mix, but take a walk down the market’s holiday candy aisle and see what you find to include!
We make it for unexpected guests, quick snacks, and Easter basket treats!
By the way, if it seems familiar, you would be right! I make holiday versions of this mix all year, but I didn’t realize, until this year, that I didn’t have one for Easter. Problem solved!

Easter Chex Mix Ingredients
Specific measurements are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post, but here is a list of what you’ll need:
- Chex cereal: I’m using Strawberry Vanilla Chex Cereal for color and flavor
- Pretzels: The mini twist pretzels are nice bite-sized pieces for a snack mix
- Marshmallows: I couldn’t resist the pastel bunny-shaped marshmallows, but you can easily substitute white or pastel mini marshmallows
- M&Ms: Easter M&Ms are a favorite, but any coated chocolate candy works well, too.
- White Chocolate: This is the ingredient that binds everything together into bite-size pieces. You can use meltables or regular white chocolate.
- Chocolate Easter Candy: I’m using Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs that I picked up from Target in this mix. Primarily because I loved the design on the eggs, but they’re also delicious. Pick a shape or Easter candy variety you like that will provide interest.
How to Make Easter Snack Mix
Combine the cereal, pretzels, marshmallows, and coated candies in a large bowl. Mix them up a bit to evenly distribute.

Step 1: Melt Chocolate
Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate according to its package instructions over a double boiler or in the microwave.
Step 2: Coat the Chex Mix
Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, drizzle it over the cereal mix and combine it with a spoon or even your hands. Be sure the cereal mixture is evenly coated with chocolate. Melt a little more white chocolate if needed!

Step 3: Let Dry
Spread the mixture onto a large sheet of parchment or wax paper. Tuck in the chocolate Easter egg candies and let dry for a few minutes or until hardened. Then, break it into pieces before storing or serving.
Easter Basket Treats

This snack mix is so festive and easy to make that I tuck it into all of my Easter baskets. I love including homemade treats in the baskets, along with special treats I know the recipient loves. Favorite candies and chocolates, bags of their favorite tea, coffee shop gift cards, candles, homemade cookies, etc, will often find their way in.
For the kids, it’s about candies, plushies, this snack mix, toys, and gift cards!
For gifting or in baskets, I like to spoon about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of the mix into food-safe cellophane treat bags tied with festive ribbons.
How to Store
This Easter snack mix can be stored at room temperature for several days in an airtight container or resealable baggie. Although it isn’t necessary to refrigerate the mix, it will keep longer in the fridge.
You can also freeze the snack mix in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to a month.
Easter Chex Mix Tips FAQs
Absolutely! Use whatever cereal you like best and get creative by adding in other sweet and salty snacks like nuts or candies.
Chex Mix tastes best when used within 2-3 days of making and stored at room temperature. For longer storage, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to a week. Or you can freeze it in an airtight freezer container for up to 1 month!
It depends on which Chex type of cereal you are using. I’m using Strawberry Vanilla Chex Cereal, which is gluten-free. Check the packaging of the cereal you are using, avoid wheat Chex, and add GF pretzels!
