Christmas crack is one of my favorite 5 minute, quick and easy recipes to make during the holidays. Everyone loves this simple but flavorful mix.
This take on chocolate Christmas crack, inspired by my all-time favorite Christmas candy, is equally simple with all the toffee flavors you love. Just, easier to make.

Why I Love Chocolate Toffee Crack
- Simple to make without a candy thermometer
- Only 5 pantry ingredients are needed which I almost always have on hand
- Absolutely delicious and never lasts long at my house

Toffee Crack Ingredients
I mentioned that this recipe uses only 5 pantry ingredients plus salt. And they are ingredients you likely also already have on hand. Here is what you’ll need (exact measurements are in the recipe card below).
- Whole graham cracker sheets
- Butter
- Brown sugar
- Chocolate Chips (I use a combination of white chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate)
- Chopped nuts: I’m using walnuts in this recipe but other alternatives might be chopped pecans, peanuts, or your favorite nut.
How to Make Chocolate Toffee Crack
Here is how simple it is to make this toffee crack. Step-by-step instructions are in the recipe card below but here is a brief overview.
Begin by preheating the oven to 375°F and lining a baking sheet with foil. I use a half-sheet size.
Step 1: Graham Crackers
Add graham crackers to prepared baking sheet. It’s easy to fit 15 full sheets on a half-sheet size baking pan. I like to use one more, cut in half lengthwise, to help fill in the very end of the sheet.

Step 2: Make the Toffee
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and then whisk in the brown sugar and pinch of salt until smooth. Pour over the graham crackers and spread evenly.

Step 3: Bake the Toffee
Bake the toffee for 10 minutes or until bubbling. Remove from the oven, scatter the chocolate over the hot toffee and return to the oven for 1 minute to soften the chocolate.
Remove from the oven and spread the now melted chocolate evenly over the crackers. Sprinkle nuts on top and set aside to harden.

Step 4: Break into pieces
I like to let the hot toffee set on the counter for a few minutes before placing it into the refrigerator to chill and harden. This can take about 30 minutes. Once set, remove from the refrigerator and break into pieces.

Chocolate Toffee Christmas Crack Recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 16 whole graham cracker sheets
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- Pinch salt
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet, dark, or milk chocolate
- 1 cup nuts chopped and salted (walnuts, pecans, or nut of choice)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a large baking sheet (I used a half sheet) with foil and set aside.
- Place graham crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet. It will hold 15 whole graham rectangles and I break the 16th one in half and add to the end.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Then add brown sugar and a pinch of salt, and whisk until smooth.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the graham crackers and spread evenly. I like to use an offset metal spatula, but a knife or the back of a spoon works well too. Bake for 10 minutes, or until bubbling.
- Remove from the oven. Scatter both the white chocolate and the chocolate chips over the top of the hot toffee. Return to the oven for 1 more minute to soften the chocolate. Remove from the oven and using a spatula, swirl the chocolate together and spread over the graham crackers. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top.
- Let the toffee sit on the counter until it hardens and cools. Once slightly cool, I like to refrigerate the pan to speed up the process. Once cool and set, break the toffee into pieces.
