What I Love About Foil Wrapped Salmon
The flavors are subtle and fresh. The foil packet steams the fish to perfection, yielding the most tender salmon imaginable. And, of course, the clean-up is incredibly easy.
Whether you cook it in the oven or grill it outside, it’s an easy recipe you’ll make time and time again.
Another favorite recipe is this oven baked fish recipe with simple ingredients, including seasonal vegetables, cooked on a sheet pan.
Foil Wrapped Salmon Ingredients
You will find the ingredient measurements in the recipe card below but here is a quick list of what you will need:
- Salmon fillet
- Melted butter
- Garlic
- Lime
- Fresh Parsley plus salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes
How to Make Foil Wrapped Salmon
Preheat oven to 400°F or prepare a grill to medium.
Line a baking sheet with foil coated with non-stick cooking spray. Lay the salmon fillet in the middle of the foil.
Combine melted butter, garlic, lime juice and zest, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl—spoon mixture onto the salmon, spreading it evenly over its surface.
Enclose the salmon and 1 lime, halved, in foil. To make a packet with your foil, I like to take 2 sheets of foil (a top and bottom layer) and crimp the edges together, forming a seal.
Garnish with fresh parsley leaves.
Two Cooking Methods
Oven Method: Bake salmon for 15 minutes until mostly cooked. Adjust this time depending on the thickness of the salmon. Remove from the oven and carefully peal back the foil to expose the salmon. Return the salmon to the oven and broil for another 3-4 minutes or until it begins to brown on the top.
Grill Method: Transfer the foil-wrapped salmon to the grill and cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes (depending on the thickness of the salmon). Carefully peal back the foil so the salmon is exposed and continue to cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
