Ingredients
Like most mug cakes, all you will need is a few pantry staples, and in this case, a peach. Ingredient measurements are in the recipe card below, but here is the list of what is needed:
- Fresh Peach: Look for a ripe peach, but not overly ripe.
- All-Purpose Flour: If you want to use self-rising flour, eliminate the baking powder and
- Light Brown Sugar: This will bring richness to the mug cake and delicious flavor too!
- Baking Powder: This mug cake contains no eggs, and baking powder will give it the leavening to make it fluffy and delicious.
- Milk: Dairy or non-dairy milk can be used.
- Butter: For flavor and richness.
- Vanilla Extract: Because almost everything is better with it!
- Ground Cinnamon for that warm peach cobbler flavor we love!
How to Make Peach Cobbler Mug Cake
Step-by-step instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post, but here's a quick overview:

Step 1: In the mug, melt ½ tablespoon of butter with 3 to 4 peach slices and ½ tablespoon of brown sugar for 30 seconds.
Step 2: Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla, milk, flour, baking powder, and cinnamon in a small bowl until combined.

Step 3: Spoon batter into the mug with the peaches. Do not stir. Place remaining peach slices on top, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and an extra pinch of cinnamon. Top with the remaining butter

Step 4: Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave.
Variations
This mug cake is wonderfully adaptable. Here are some easy ways to change it up:
- Try other stone fruits: Plums, nectarines, apricots, or cherries work beautifully in place of peaches.
- Add a touch of spice: A pinch of nutmeg, ginger, or cardamom adds warm flavor, especially delicious in late summer or fall.
- Make it creamy: Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat.
- Use canned or frozen fruit: No fresh peaches? Canned (drained) or frozen (thawed) peaches make great substitutes.
- Add a crunch: Sprinkle with chopped nuts (like pecans or almonds) or a dash of coarse sugar before microwaving.

Mug Cake FAQs
Absolutely! Substitute the butter for vegan butter and the milk for nut or oat milk. To make it gluten-free, substitute a gluten-free 1:1 flour.
Be careful not to overmix the batter, which could make a mug cake tough. Mix the ingredients just until combined for the best texture. Over-microwaving can also cause a mug cake to become tough. I like to check the cake at 1 minute and then add intervals as necessary. You want the cake to be set and a little shiny on top.
You will need a 10-12 ounce microwave-safe mug.

Not a hater. I tried the recipe. It didn't come out well for me. The dough was gummy. It had a good flavor but I wouldn't make it again.
Used plant based butter and coconut milk. It did not come well at all. On to the next one
Hi Anita. I’m sorry it didn’t work well. I haven’t tested with those ingredients.
Delicious! I made these for our family of four. The peach and brown sugar flavors go so well together.
Thank you, Emily for trying the recipe! I’m so glad you enjoyed them— for 4!
I love this! I have made a few of your mug cakes and this is my favorite. Made it for the third time last night. In my microwave I went 1:25 and it was perfectly done. Sweet, but not too sugary. I am a big fan of peaches and this for the bill!
Can you double the recipe and make in a bowl? It sound delicious and I'm drowning in peaches!
Hi Peggy-- You can absolutely double the peach mug cake recipe. One of the things I love about mug cakes-- it stretches :)!
32 grams of sugar in one serving?? I know it’s a dessert, but it’s recipes like this that contribute to Americans’ poor health.
So don't make it karen
Haters gotta hate! Don't make it or cut the sugar in half. Geesh
Hi Stephanie, Can you use canned peach slices by draining the juice? I'm going to try it this weekend. This is a great dessert or snack for those of us who live alone. I hope you are doing well. Blessings... Michael.
Hi Michael, you can definitely use canned peach slices. Just be sure to pat the slices dry and remove the excess moisture. I love single serving desserts! Have a great weekend.
