When the summer sun turns sultry, there is nothing quite like a tall glass of homemade lemonade. This 3 ingredient Lemonade recipe is easy make with fresh lemons, and a little bit of sugar — that’s it!

Sipping a perfectly sweetened glass of lemonade amidst a fragrant blooming summer garden, in the shade of an old tree, is almost heaven, and certainly, a seasonal must-do. With unique and flavorful varieties, the sweetness can last all season long.

Here’s how to make your own homemade lemonade!

Ingredients

These 3 ingredients are all you need to make a simple and classic lemonade. The exact measurements are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • water, filtered if possible
  • fresh lemons
  • granulated sugar

How To Add Your Own Twist to Homemade Lemonade

If you love adding flavors and experimenting with recipes, try these easy additions and twists to classic lemonade.

Minted Lemonade

Bruise a few mint leaves in the glasses before pouring in the lemonade. Garnish with mint leaves.

Limeade

Substitute lime juice in the lemonade recipe (you’ll need about 10 limes) for the lemons and increase sugar to 3/4 cup. Garnish with lime slices.

Pink Lemonade

Add 2-3 drops of red food color, and an optional dash of strawberry simple syrup (if you’re adding this, reduce the sugar by the same volume!)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup lemon juice (squeezed from 4-5 lemons)
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix together until sugar is dissolved, serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

Notes

SWEETNESS

If you like your lemonade really sweet, increase sugar to 1 cup. For me, this is the perfect balance of lemon flavor and sweetness.

MINTED LEMONADE
