Why I Love This Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recipe

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Which flavor signals summer to you? How about Double Strawberry, Raspberry Chip, or Peanut Butter Fudge?

If you’re getting hungry for ice cream, you’re not alone!

For me, my favorite flavor for ice cream is mint chocolate chip. Forever and ever, and ever again. It’s the taste of childhood summers!

While I’ll always love no church ice creams, like Summer Berry No Churn Ice Cream or Strawberry Ice Cream (No Churn), this recipe will always have a special place in my heart!

Ingredients for Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recipe

  • Milk — Whole milk is best and be sure it is cold. In fact, the colder the milk is, the better the ice cream. Whole milk will also give you the creamiest results.
  • Sugar — Granulated sugar for sweet, minty ice cream.
  • Heavy Cream — Like the milk, it’s important that it is really cold.
  • Pure Peppermint Extract— You can also use mint extract, but peppermint extract has the best flavor for me.
  • Chocolate Bar—Use your favorite chocolate bar, whether dark, semi-sweet, or milk chocolate. You could also use chocolate chips if desired.

How to Make Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

  • Whisk the milk and sugar together in a bowl until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the heavy cream, peppermint extract, and food dye (if using).
  • Turn on the ice cream maker and pour in the ice cream mixture. Let churn for about 25 minutes.
  • During the last 5 minutes, slowly add in the chopped chocolate. Once churned, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2-3 hours! Enjoy!

Tools You Need

Unlike no-churn ice cream recipes, this one uses an ice cream machine. For me, I’ve always had a Cuisinart ice cream maker. It’s budget-friendly and works well for us!
