Celebrations vary but often include parades, festivals, parades and festivals, céilithe, and the wearing of green!

Why Do We Wear Green on St Patrick’s Day?

Did you know the original color associated with St. Patrick’s Day was blue?

But green also represents the lush green grassy hills of Ireland, also known as the Emerald Isle.

And then… there are the Leprechauns. Which is often the real reason people wear green on St. Patrick’s Day! The folk tradition believed that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns. And associated pinching that comes if you’re not wearing green.
