What Is an Iced Vanilla Latte?
An iced vanilla latte is a chilled espresso drink made with ice, espresso or strong coffee, milk, and vanilla syrup. It's creamy, lightly sweet, and easy to make at home without special equipment.
If you have an espresso machine, use your favorite espresso roast. If not, strongly brewed coffee or cold brew works too.
Ingredients You'll Need
The exact measurements are in the recipe card below, but here's what you'll need:
- Espresso or strong coffee: Use brewed espresso, strong coffee, or cold brew.
- Milk: Any milk you love works, including dairy milk, half-and-half, oat milk, almond milk, or your favorite creamer.
- Vanilla syrup: Homemade or store-bought vanilla syrup both work beautifully.
- Ice: Plenty of ice keeps the latte cold and refreshing.
How to Make Homemade Vanilla Syrup

Store-bought vanilla syrup is easy and convenient, but homemade vanilla syrup is simple to make and keeps well in the refrigerator.
To make vanilla syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan with a split vanilla bean, if using. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat, stir in vanilla extract, cool, and store in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
If you don't have a vanilla bean, you can still make a delicious syrup with vanilla extract only
How to Make an Iced Vanilla Latte

- Fill a glass with ice.
- Add brewed espresso or strong coffee.
- Stir together milk and vanilla syrup, then pour over the coffee.
- Stir, sip, and enjoy.
Tips for the Best Iced Vanilla Latte
- Use strongly brewed coffee if you don't have espresso, so the flavor doesn't get diluted by the ice and milk.
- Chill brewed coffee before adding it to the glass for the coldest latte.
- Start with less vanilla syrup and add more to taste.
- Use your favorite milk or creamer to make it as light or creamy as you like.
- Make vanilla syrup ahead and keep it refrigerated for quick lattes all week.
