What I Love About This Chicken Burger
Let's begin with the obvious... it's delicious. Seriously, wonderfully delicious. But that's just me. You'll have to try it and let me know what you think!
- 20 Minute Meal
- All the Southwestern condiments I can think of (guacamole, sour cream/yogurt, onions, tomatoes... more cheese? Maybe.)
- Easy, easy, easy!
And there you have it... some of my favorite reasons to make this grilled chicken burger, often! If you love chicken burgers (and a little spice), try my Firecracker Chicken Burgers I love to make on the Fourth of July.

Chicken Burger Recipe Ingredients
Here's what you need to make these burgers.
- Ground chicken
- Red onion, finely chopped
- Fresh cilantro, finely chopped
- Seasonings: Ground cumin, paprika (sweet or smoked), salt, and pepper
- Shredded cheddar cheese
How to Make a Chicken Burger
Grilled burgers are incredibly easy to make, and these are no exception. While I love grilling them outdoors, you can easily grill indoors using a grill pan, indoor griddle, or a skillet.
Here's how to make these delicious burgers!
Prepare an indoor or outdoor grill over medium heat and lightly oil the grates.

Break up pieces of ground chicken and add to a medium bowl. Then add the onions, cilantro, cumin, paprika, cheddar cheese, salt and black pepper. Evenly incorporate the ingredients, but be careful not to overmix the ground chicken.

Form into four ½-inch thick patties. Grill burgers over medium heat until cooked through, 5-7 minutes per side.

Serve each patty in a burger bun topped with your favorite toppings. We love guacamole and sour cream.
Topping Ideas
Almost anything you put on this chicken burger will be delicious. But if you want to take it up a notch, try adding guacamole, sour cream, and maybe thin slices of red onion. These toppings perfectly complement the burger's ingredients!
Chicken Burger Pro Tips
- Pro Tip-Make a Firm Patty: Chicken burgers can fall apart if they are not made into a firm patty.
- Pro Tip-Don't Overmix Ground Chicken: Be careful not to overmix the ground meat. I like to break up the chicken as I add it to a bowl, then add the ingredients and mix together. This helps prevent overmixing, and it's easy!
What To Serve with These Burgers
I love to add grilled vegetables with burgers, whether that be a grilled vegetable platter or simply grilling corn cobs and serving with a spiced melting butter! If you love fries, sweet potato fries are my pick.
Are Chicken Burgers Healthy?
Chicken is naturally lower in saturated fats than beef, which makes it a great choice for managing calorie intake and promoting heart health.
